Christine Winslow

Following my son Jason’s diagnosis in 2013, I found myself in a world that was lonely; I had no idea how Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy was going to affect our lives. My firsthand insights into the daily realities of disability have since shaped me into an empathetic leader and tireless advocate. Determined to raise awareness, I started a Facebook page to share Jason’s journey and offer support to Duchenne families. After learning firsthand about the importance of accessibility, I created an association in the Seychelles called "Ramp Up, Rise Up" to raise awareness and help create accessible establishments, and later a business called SeyMobility, Seychelles' first and only accessible taxi service. I like to think that my work bridges the gap between advocacy and entrepreneurship. My commitment to fostering collaboration among families, professionals, and policymakers has sparked legislative discussions on national accessibility standards. Through every initiative, I remain grounded in the hope that practical solutions and compassionate leadership can transform lives, especially in the Duchenne community. Guided by my son’s courage, I continue to forge new pathways for others, proving that when determination meets compassion, communities can truly rise together. Together we are stronger fighting Duchenne. You are not alone.
